Sinopsis :
Tersebutlah sebuah family restaurant benama Wagnaria yang berada di Hokkaido. Karena kekurangan pegawai, Popura Taneshima, salah satu pegawai paruh waktu di restoran itu diminta tolong oleh store manager untuk mencarikan seorang pegawai baru. Namun, meski telah berusaha keras tak ada yang bisa menerima tawaran Popura. Popura akhirnya menawarkan pekerjaan buat seorang cowok yang kebetulan ditemuinya di jalan. Malang, cowok itu sempat mengira bahwa Popura anak SD yang tersesat. akan tetapi setelah Popura menunjukan kartu pelajarnya, barulah cowok itu sadar bahwa Popura adalah seniornya di sekolah dan menerima tawaran itu.
Cowok bernama Souta Takanashi itu akhirnya mulai bekerja. Di hari pertamanya, dia diperkenalkan pada shop manager Wagnaria, Kyoko Shirafuji, chef Jun Satou dan Hiroomi Souma, dan floor chef Yachio Todoroki. Ada satu peraturan yang ditekankan oleh Kyoko, yaitu jangan menjalin Cinta sesama pegawai Wagnaria karena akan menyulitkan dalam membuat shift kerja. Namun Souta bukan mencintai Popura sebagai cewek tapi lebih karena popura betubuh mungil. Souta mengakui bahwa dirinya menyukai hal yang keicl dan cute seperti anak-anak atau bintang bahkan menyamakan rasa suka Popura dengan rasa sukanya terhadap Daphania[Sejenis lalat air]yang dianggapnya cute!
Suatu hari Souta secara tidak sadar melontarkan komentar atas usia Kyoko. sebagai balasan Kyoko yang tertohok kemudian memberikan jadwal shift 7 hari untuk Souta, meski akhirnya memberi satu hari libur setelah cowok itu minta maaf Souta pun menyadari meskipun ia rajin masuk kerja, ada satu pegawai yang belum pernah ditemuinya, Mahiru Inami. Saat diminta mengambilkan barang oleh Yachio, Souta menyadari hari ini dia satu shift dengan Mahiru untuk pertama kalinya.
